Comfrey is a shrub which grows in parts of Europe, Asia and North America. Its roots contain allantoin which is believed to help new skin cells grow, reduce inflammation and keep skin healthy. Comfrey ointments have been used to heal bruises as well as pulled muscles/ligaments, fractures, sprains, strains and osteoarthritis.
