Native to Europe, the Larkspur is a low-growing annual plant that’s known for its striking appearance. Generally grown for aesthetic use, larkspurs display stunning colours in showy petal clusters. These colours are typically deep purple, blue and white. It’s a popular flower amongst herbalists, who typically use it as a decorative natural dye for clothes or add it to herbal teas.
Herbalists use Larkspur flower petals to add deep colouration to silk or woollen clothing. The vibrant colour doesn’t wear off once dry, so is perfect as a natural clothes dye. It can also be added to herbal tea for decorative purposes.
The intense colour can also be made into blue ink for writing – the perfect natural product for gifts and past times.
