    Boric Acid Powder

    Form: Powder

    Product description

Not to be confused with borax powder, boric acid is a similar-looking chemical compound composed of boron, hydrogen and oxygen. This water-soluble powder is also known as boracic acid, orthoboric acid and hydrogen borate, and naturally occurs in a wide range of different fruits, vegetables, nuts, grains, plants and even sea water. Looking to place a bulk order of boric acid powder? You can enquire today using the form below.

    How is it used?

Like its close cousin borax, boric acid has a wealth of different uses. It’s often added to cleaning products and makeup, and is used extensively in the wider manufacturing industry. Despite being known for its use in insecticides and pesticides, boric acid can also act as a preservative. The compound is also known to have antiviral and antifungal properties hence its widespread use as an antiseptic.

Boric acid can be used as a preservative

Boric acid is commonly used as a preservative in urine sample vials, which helps to keep the specimen fresh as it travels to the lab. A small quantity of boric acid powder is usually found at the bottom of clear bottles.

    Swimming pool maintenance

Pool owners use boric acid to keep their pools clean. It can help keep the pH of the water stable and prevent algae issues.

    Topical remedies

Boric acid may be used as a topical remedy for ear infections, vaginal discharge and treating minor wounds such as cuts and burns.
