Product description
Described by some as 'lemonier than lemon', lemon myrtle leaves have a distinctive citrus flavour and are used in a variety of sweet and savoury dishes. Like the bay leaf, it should be used sparingly due to the intensity of its flavour, but can be an excellent complement to meat-based casseroles and similar dishes. It is also used in marinades, dressings, mayonnaises, teas, cakes, biscuits, and even ice creams. Order Wholesale lemon myrtle leaves at a fantastic price!

A potent flavouring agent
While lemon myrtle is high in antioxidants, vitamin E, calcium, zinc and magnesium, and boasts anti-microbial and anti-fungal properties - it is generally known in cooking as a flavouring agent. Native to the rainforests of Queensland, it is considered a more potent alternative to lemongrass, as it contains exceptionally high amounts of citral.
Also known as Backhousia citriodora
The Latin name for lemon myrtle leaves is Backhousia citriodora. From a western perspective, the herb was discovered by Baron Ferdinand von Müller in 1853, and later used in German food production. It was also used in Australia before World War two as a flavouring for lemonade, before its wider culinary uses became evident.
