Product description
Despite their seemingly self-explanatory name, caraway seeds are in fact anything but: they’re instead dried fruit from the caraway plant (Carum carvi). Otherwise known as Persian Cumin, caraway is a biennial flowering plant native to parts of Europe, North Africa and western Asia. To place an order of wholesale ground caraway seed, please enquire today using the form below.
How is it used?
Caraway seed is commonly used ground in cooking. This versatile spice has become a permanent fixture in Asian and European cuisine, being found in everything from rye bread to cheese, pastries and dishes like stews and curries. Occasionally, it’s added to alcoholic beverages for a distinctive taste.
Culinary uses aside, caraway seed is widely used in herbal medicine too. Commonly taken in herbal teas, caraway seed is believed to aid in the treatment of bloating and indigestion. It’s also thought to have an anti-inflammatory effect, allowing it to quell the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome and inflammatory bowel disease.
