Historical uses of celandine herb cut
Greater celandine is native to Europe and Western Asia; later it was widely introduced in North America as well. It was used as a drug in the middle ages to promote fluid balance and ease muscle cramps. The plant itself has a long history of herbal and medicinal uses and was once supposedly an effective remedy for wart removal (hence its other names!).
Believed to promote healthy digestion
Bitter herbs like celandine help to stimulate the production of beneficial stomach acids to soothe digestive discomforts and alleviate bloating, gas, and nausea.
Believed to treat anxiety and insomnia
Greater celandine is commonly used as a mild sedative and is believed to provide relief from anxiety. It is believed that such properties will then typically help to relieve pain, and tension and help to induce sleep, thus treating insomnia and other sleep disorders.
