    Orange flowers bitter have been used since the 1500s in Europe to treat a wide range of conditions, including gout, sore throats, insomnia, gastrointestinal issues and nervous complaints. In addition, this ingredient was used as both a tonic and a carminative to help with dyspepsia according to Chinese folk medicine.

    Orange flowers bitter have antifungal, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties so they’re useful to address a range of conditions including skin complaints and inflammation. It is also thought that orange flowers bitters could help manage low blood sugar levels in diabetics.

    Wider uses

    It’s not just in treating health ailments that orange flowers bitter come into its own – it also has a number of other uses. Its distinct aroma and taste make it perfect for the kitchen.     Orange flowers bitter can also be used as a natural dye, to colour fabrics, cosmetics or paper products. Although the peel of the plant is responsible for producing a yellow-orange dye, the flowers actually produce a green-hued dye.
