1857
Joseph Flach was born on 28th December 1857 in the city of Aschaffenburgh, Babaria, Germany. Joseph founded the firm of Joseph Flach & Sons from an office in the City of London in 1882.
1882
On the 15th of August 1882, Joseph came to London from Germany to set up a botanical international trading house. Joseph Flach & Sons began in room 35 at 16 Water Lane.
1923
Joined by his son and two brothers, Joseph moved the business to larger premises at 64 Mark Lane in London.
1927
The business moves to Upper East Smithfield in London and is incorporated into a limited company, Joseph Flach & Sons Ltd.
1940
-1941
Both stock held at Antwerp Quay and the company warehouse were lost in the blitz of London in WW2. The business moved to Harringay in London.
1942
The Vegetable Drugs Committee of the Women’s voluntary for Civil Defence called on Joseph Flach & Sons to assist in the collection of rose hips, horse chestnuts and dandelion roots to help the war effort.
1982
The firm celebrates its centenary attended by 22 of Joseph’s descendants.
1988
Joseph Flach & Sons moves out of London to Peterborough into a 3,000 square foot warehouse.
2015
Joseph Flach & Sons gains ISO 22000 quality standard accreditation.
2015
Anthony Benton (through Biashara Holdings Ltd) purchases Joseph Flach & Sons Ltd from the Flach family. At this time, five staff members are employed. Significant investment is made into IT systems and procedures.
2017
Joseph Flach & Sons moves into a 10,000 sq foot warehouse due to expansion, increases the head count to eight staff members, and invests further in machinery and systems.
2019
Joseph Flach & Sons is awarded the Kosher Accreditation on the 10th of October, 2019.
2021
With sustained business growth, Joseph Flach & Sons moves into a 20,000 sq ft warehouse, and the team grows to 15 staff.
2021
Joseph Flach & Sons sets up an online trading sister company, Mimea Mauzo Limited, to directly serve orders for smaller fixed quantities of botanicals to the public and businesses.
2022
Joseph Flach & Sons gains UFAS Accreditation.
2022
Jo Dobson is appointed as Finance Director as Joseph Flach & Sons continues its growth path.
2023
Joseph Flach & Sons is BRC Accredited and awarded organic status. The team grows to 25 staff and uses an additional outsourced BRC-accredited warehouse to support increasing demand.
