    This Month: Meet Sean – Supporting Customers Around the World

    In our latest Meet the Team feature, we spoke with Sean from our export sales team. With more than 30 years of experience across botanicals and international sales, Sean has developed extensive knowledge of global trade and supply chain management.

    Having spent the last nine years at Joseph Flach & Sons, he plays a key role in supporting customers around the world, helping them navigate the complexities of sourcing botanicals, documentation requirements and international logistics.

    Sean shares his journey, what drives him, and what he enjoys most about working at Joseph Flach & Sons.

     

    Can you introduce yourself and your background?

    “I come from a forces background, so I moved around a lot growing up. I eventually settled in Stamford, where my family is from.

    Professionally, I joined Joseph Flach & Sons nine years ago to coordinate export sales. Before that, I spent 10 years in procurement for a dried botanical company, followed by 12 years in export sales for an impulse gifts company.”

     

    What do you enjoy most about your role?

    “I think it’s when you overcome a challenge and find a solution that works well.

    A lot of what I do in export sales is managing projects from beginning to end, and there are always challenges along the way. Seeing everything come together successfully is the most rewarding part.”

     

    What are you most proud of at Joseph Flach & Sons?

    “The growth the company has achieved, our strong commitment to quality, and the level of support we give our customers.

    There’s also a great team ethic here, which makes a big difference day-to-day.”

     

    What’s one thing you’re particularly proud of in your work?

    “The proactive support I provide to customers. That starts from the initial enquiry and continues through after-sales.

    It’s about helping them overcome challenges and making sure they have everything they need, both the materials and the documentation.”

     

    What makes working here enjoyable for you?

    “There’s a hands-off approach from management, which allows you to make decisions and use your initiative.

    At the same time, there’s always support from colleagues when you need it, so it’s a good balance.”

    • Most interesting product? Lycopodium powder – “It flows like water but is water resistant, and is highly flammable when exposed to air, which is why it’s often used in magic tricks and theatre.”

    Outside of work

    Sean enjoys staying active, regularly going to the gym, swimming, and working out. He also enjoys travelling, eating out, and visiting the theatre.

    When it comes to favourite places, Havana stands out, along with the views from the Greek Theatre in Taormina, Sicily. And for a meal, it’s hard to beat a classic bangers and mash.

     

    Sean brings a wealth of industry knowledge and experience to JFS. His practical approach, problem-solving mindset, and commitment to customer support play an important role in ensuring our export operations run smoothly, helping customers around the world receive exactly what they need, when they need it.
