Daphne mezereum is commonly found in temperate regions of Europe and Asia as well as Scandinavia and Russia. The bark contains coumarins, daphnetoxin, and mezerein. The red berries and pink flowers of the plant are poisonous to humans and handling even the twigs and bark can cause rashes.
