Deer Tounge Herb Cut

Cut deer tongue herb consists of the dried, chopped leaves of the Trilisa or Liatris odoratissima plant, featuring a green colour and a slightly coarse texture. They have a strong, vanilla-like/new mown hay aroma and a slightly sweet taste. Deer tongue is commonly found in the southeastern and eastern United States and are part of the Asteraceae family and are also known as vanilla leaf, wild vanilla or hound’s tongue. The leaves contain coumarin, sesquiterpenes, triterpenes, flavonoids, and essential oils. Whole deer tongue herb is used in traditional herbal remedies for its diuretic, aromatic and soothing properties, often included in teas and herbal blends. It is also used in potpourri for its vanilla scent.
