Product description
Widely used as a seasoning condiment, rubbed English Parsley (i.e. chopped) is a common herb of the Apiaceae family. Despite the common name, English parsley, it is cultivated worldwide and used in a wide variety of dishes, including grilled vegetables, cold green-bean salads, roasted potatoes, stews, soups, and pasta.
However, its medicinal properties are arguably more impressive. According to the US National Center for Biotechnology Information, Petroselinum crispum possesses antioxidant properties, protects the body against DNA damage and slows the proliferation and migration of cancer cells. The plant's leaf, seed and root are utilised in medicine production.
Medical & cosmetic use
It has been claimed parsley may be useful in the treatment of kidney stones (nephrolithiasis), bladder infections (UTIs), gastrointestinal (GI) disorders, skin conditions, and constipation, among others.
Parsley seed oil is also used as a fragrance in some perfumes, cosmetics and soaps.
Also known as Petroselinum crispum and garden parsley
Native to the central and eastern Mediterranean region, English parsley is also known as garden parsley, as well as by its Latin name, Petroselinum crispum.
