    Arnica Montana Flowers

    Arnica montana

    Form: Whole

    Product description

Also known as Leopard’s-Bane, Mountain arnica, Mountain Snuff and Mountain Tobacco, Arnica Montana is a perennial herbaceous plant native to Europe and parts of North America and Asia.

This herbaceous perennial is most at home in grassland, meadows, shrub land, alpine mountain environments and dry pine forests. Their attractive yellow or orange flowers are daisy-like in appearance and typically 2–3 inches wide, with 10-15 ray florets surrounding a central disc of smaller flowers that are bright yellow. When rubbed, the flower leaves have a distinct pine-sage aroma. The flowering season falls between May and August.

    How is it used?

Due to the flowers containing compounds like sesquiterpene lactones, flavonoids, and essential oils, it’s believed the plant has potential herbal health benefits. It’s believed that the active ingredients in this plant have mild anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antiseptic actions.

Arnica flowers have traditionally been used to help relieve pain, swelling, and bruising, though the scientific evidence for their effectiveness is still limited. The flowers can be dried and used to make tinctures, salves, creams, and other herbal preparations, though ingesting large amounts of the plant can be toxic.

Natural products can cause side effects. As with any food product or herbal supplement, it is advisable to seek professional advice before newly incorporating into one’s routine or into a new product, especially for individuals who are susceptible to allergies, have dietary issues, weakened immune systems or other health complications.
