Product description
Myrrh, also known as African myrrh, Somali myrrh, and common myrrh, is an aromatic resin that’s been loved for centuries. This resin, extracted from the sap of the myrrh tree, has deep roots in the Arabian Peninsula and Africa. Known as ‘mur’ in Arabic, meaning bitter, its oil is referred to as oleoresin or ‘Mur Makki’ due to its association with Mecca.
Gum myrrh siftings, a fine form of this yellow, fragrant resin, are acquired from cuts in the bark of Commiphora trees.
How are gum myrrh siftings used?
Burning myrrh as incense creates a rich, calming aroma, making it ideal for meditation, relaxation, and use in religious settings. The fragrant scent also makes myrrh an excellent ingredient for natural candles and air fresheners, providing an exotic and warm ambience to any environment.
In the fragrance industry, myrrh siftings are a key component. They add a unique, complex aroma to perfumes and colognes, enhancing the depth and character of each scent. Their natural antibacterial properties make them perfect for soaps and personal care products, offering effective cleansing and skin protection.
Beyond aroma and skincare, myrrh is widely used in traditional Chinese and Egyptian herbal remedies, myrrh is believed to help reduce pain, fight bacteria, and aid in wound healing. Many find relief from skin conditions and use myrrh to find respiratory relief when burned.
