Product description
Myrrh is a resin derived from the dried sap of the myrrh tree, a native of the Arabian Peninsula and Africa. It is known scientifically as Commiphora myrrha, also known as African myrrh or Somali myrrh. In Arabic, the word mur means bitter, and its extracted oil, known as oleoresin, is referred to as ‘Mur Makki’ because of its ties to Mecca.
Gum myrrh peas, the yellow, fragrant, sap-like resin derived from cuts in the bark of Commiphora trees, have an impressive range of uses. This resin is highly valued for its aromatic and therapeutic qualities.
Gum myrrh peas have several uses:
Burning myrrh as incense creates a tranquil and serene atmosphere, making it a staple in spiritual and cultural rituals. Its warm, inviting scent is also perfect for natural candles and air fresheners, infusing spaces with its unique fragrance.
In the fragrance industry, myrrh’s exotic aroma is a key ingredient in high-end perfumes and colognes, adding a distinctive touch to these luxurious products. Its natural antibacterial properties make it a popular choice in soaps and hygiene products.
Used extensively in traditional Egyptian and Chinese traditional herbal remedies, myrrh is believed to reduce pain, kill bacteria, and aid in wound healing. Many also turn to myrrh for relief from skin conditions and its soothing properties make it a good choice for respiratory relief when burned.
