Myrtle Bog Herb Whole
Myrica gale
Form: Whole
Product description
Myrtle bog, also known as sweet gale or sweet willow, is an aromatic shrub native to peat bogs in North America, Japan, North Korea and parts of Europe. It is a deciduous shrub growing 1-2m tall with spirally arranged leaves with crinkled edges, bearing catkins as flowers. The dried herb consists of the dried leaves and twigs, which have a leathery texture and a warm, spicy aroma reminiscent of nutmeg or ginger. The flavour is slightly bitter and astringent. Myrtle bog was traditionally used by Native Americans and early settlers as a seasoning and for its herbal remedy properties.
