Valerian is a perennial flowering plant belonging to the Valerianaceae family. It typically grows to about 1.5 metres in height and has clusters of small, sweetly scented pink or white flowers. Historically it has been used as a natural alternative to prescription sleep medications. Valerian Root is thought to have a calming effect, potentially making it useful in managing stress and anxiety. It has been said that Valerian root can help reduce restlessness and agitation.
