    How are they used?

    The berries are harvested in autumn and can be used for cosmetics and cuisine. This ingredient works in tea blends and can also be used as a substitute for black pepper, being similar in taste and appearance. Ground into a powder, chaste tree berries can also be blended into health drinks and smoothies.

    Historical uses of chaste tree berries

    The name Chasteberry derives from the traditional belief that the plant promoted chastity. It was used by the ancient Greeks, Romans and Monks in the Middle Ages to decrease sexual desire and keep away evil. European nuns used chasteberry to treat women’s hormonal imbalances, which is still the chasteberry’s main function.
