Mallow leaves, cut and dried, come from the mallow plant, also known as common mallow or high mallow. This plant has a long history of use in traditional herbal remedies. Mallow is a perennial herbaceous plant belonging to the Malvaceae family. It grows up to 1-2 metres tall, with round, velvety leaves and purple-pink flowers. The leaves are alternate, palmately lobed, and have a mildly sweet, mucilaginous taste.

    How is it used?

The cut and dried leaves of the Mallow plant are used in teas, poultices, and infusions. Thought to contain Mucilage: A polysaccharide that provides soothing and protective properties for mucous membranes, Flavonoids: compounds with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects, Tannins: Astringent compounds that can help with wound healing and inflammation and Vitamins and Minerals.
