Product description
New Jersey tea, is a shrub native to eastern North America, also known as red root or mountain sweet. The cut leaves have a slightly fuzzy texture and a mild, earthy aroma. The flavour is slightly bitter and astringent. New Jersey tea leaves were traditionally used as a substitute for black tea by early settlers and Native Americans.
New Jersey Tea grows up to 1m tall with many thin branches and white flowers in clumps.
Uses:
New Jersey tea leaves have been used in traditional herbal remedies for their believed astringent and diuretic properties. It was used by Native Americans to treat upper respiratory problems and as a caffeine free tea.
