Product description
Balm leaves whole, also known as lemon balm or sweet balm, are the dried, intact leaves of the Melissa officinalis plant. They are green to brownish-green with a rough, slightly brittle texture. The leaves have a pleasant, lemony aroma and a mild, citrusy taste. Lemon balm thrives in temperate regions, particularly in Europe and the Mediterranean as well as North Africa and Western Asia. It flowers in early summer with small white or cream flowers. It contains volatile oils, flavonoids, polyphenolic compounds and triterpenic acids. Whole balm leaves are commonly used in herbal teas, tinctures, and culinary dishes and are traditionally thought to have calming, antiviral and digestive properties.
