Peppermint oil is a concentrated essential oil extracted from the peppermint plant, which is known for its refreshing, minty aroma and various therapeutic properties. The primary active ingredients in peppermint oil are menthol and menthone, which give it its cooling sensation and fresh aroma. Peppermint oil is known for its natural antimicrobial properties, making it useful in natural cleaning products and personal care items. 

How is it used?

Peppermint oil is commonly used in aromatherapy as it’s believed to boost energy, improve mental focus, and relieve stress. It’s traditionally believed to soothe digestive issues like bloating, indigestion, and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Peppermint is thought to have a cooling effect which could make it beneficial for clearing the respiratory tract, helping with conditions like colds, sinus congestion, and coughs. When diluted, peppermint oil can be applied to the skin as it has historically been known to help relieve itching, soothe headaches, or provide a cooling effect on sore muscles.

Peppermint oil capsules have an enteric coating allowing them to pass through the stomach without the stomach acid breaking them down, enabling them to reach the intestine without being dissolved.
