Product description
Cinnamon bark sticks are a popular form of cinnamon used in culinary, herbal remedy, and aromatic applications. Cinnamon is obtained from the inner bark of several species of trees belonging to the Lauraceae family and is native to Southern India and Sri Lanka. The bark is harvested, rolled and dried before being cut into a uniform 15cm stick.
Cinnamon contains Cinnamaldehyde, the main active compound responsible for cinnamon’s flavour and aroma. Eugenol, Linalool, additional compounds that contribute to cinnamon’s reported health benefits and aromatic qualities and Polyphenol Antioxidants which are thought to provide various health benefits, including antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects.
How is it used?
Cinnamon is used within both sweet and savoury dishes to impart a warm, sweet, and aromatic flavour to various dishes, beverages, and desserts. They are commonly added to hot beverages like tea, coffee, and mulled wine for flavour. Cinnamon sticks can also be used as a decorative garnish for drinks and dishes.
Cinnamon is believed to aid digestion and alleviate gastrointestinal discomfort. Historically it has been thought to have anti-inflammatory properties which may help reduce inflammation in the body.
Cinnamon sticks are used in potpourri and sachets for their pleasant aroma whilst also being used in incense.
