Product description
Red clover is a herbaceous plant belonging to the legume family, Fabaceae. It is widely recognised for its distinctive three-lobed leaves and red to purple flower clusters. Red clover is a perennial plant, which typically grows to a height of 20-80 cm (8-31 inches) tall. The leaves are trifoliate (composed of three leaflets), and each leaflet has a characteristic pale V-shaped marking. The edges of the leaflets are finely serrated. The flowers are borne in dense, globular clusters, each cluster comprising many small, tubular flowers. The flower heads are usually red to purple in colour. Red clover is native to Europe, Western Asia, and Northwest Africa. Commonly growing in meadows, pastures, and along roadsides. It prefers well-drained, fertile soils and thrives in full sunlight but can also tolerate partial shade. It is these beautiful flowers which are used to manufacture the powdered form of this product.
Containing a variety of isoflavones, other flavonoids, coumarins and volatile oils amongst other compounds, red clover has a rich history of use in herbal remedies.
