    The Lotus Flower, or Nelumbo nucifera, is an aquatic plant native to eastern Asia and northern Australia. It is also colloquially called a water lily, Indian lotus, bean of India, Egyptian bean, sacred lotus and lotus. Researchers have found antidepressant and sedative properties in the flower which has led to the lotus flower being consumed in all parts of the world.
