    Calendula officinalis

    Form: Cut

    Product description

Marigold flowers are widely known for their bright colours and diverse uses in traditional herbal remedies, cosmetics, and as a culinary ingredient. Part of the Asteraceae family, they have erect, branching stems and pinnate leaves with a strong, distinctive aroma. The flowers are vibrant and range in colour from yellow to orange and red. They are composite, with both ray and disc florets. It is these beautiful flowers which once harvested are dried and cut for ease of use.

Marigold flowers are a common garden plant found worldwide and contain triterpenes, flavonoids, sesquiterpene and ionone glycosides, volatile oils and polysaccharides. They have a saline, slightly bitter taste and faint smell.

    How is it used?

Thought to have anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties, which could help heal wounds and skin conditions. Marigold Flowers are also thought to be a digestive aid, historically used to alleviate stomach cramps, indigestion, diarrhoea and even expel parasitic worms. Marigold has been used historically in herbal remedies, teas, tinctures and topical preparations to help heal the skin.
