Mountain Grape Root Cut
Berberis aquifolium
Form: Cut
Product description
Mountain Grape Root has been promoted as a treatment for bacterial and fungal infections, and skin conditions. Despite its name, the plant does not produce grapes; active plant compounds found in the stalk and root are used in oral or topical treatments. One of the plant's key compounds is berberine, which possesses both anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties; as such it may be useful in treating a variety of conditions and diseases. A number of scientific studies back up this assertion.
Applications of Mountain Grape Root
For centuries mountain grape root (Mahonia aquifolium) was used in traditional Chinese medicine to treat various ailments and conditions, including psoriasis, stomach problems and mild depression. Some small-scale modern-day studies suggest it may indeed reduce the severity of symptoms associated with psoriasis and atopic dermatitis. It may also be effective for treating diarrhoea, parasitic infections and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), among other conditions.
