    Nettle Herb Powder

    Urtica dioica

    Form: Powder

    Product description

Nettle Herb Powder is a vibrant green powder made from the dried leaves of the stinging nettle plant. This unique plant, known for its stinging hairs, has been a staple in traditional remedies for centuries. Native to Europe, North Africa, and Asia, nettle was cherished in Greek and Roman times for its believed health benefits.

The plant, considered a weed, grows in waste habitats and has green flowers with yellow stamens and green, hairy, triangular leaves with rounded bottoms. The herb contains flavonoids, glycoprotein, histamine, serotonin and vitamin C amongst other things.

How is nettle herb powder used?

Nettle herb powder is full of nutrients, and commonly used for its potential health benefits. Bursting with antioxidants, especially vitamin C, it’s thought to help combat harmful free radicals in the body, promoting overall well-being.

Traditionally, nettle has been used to ease joint pain and inflammation. Some people apply directly to the affected area or take an extract as a natural way to help reduce joint pain. Nettle is also thought to support blood sugar management. It contains a compound called UD-1, which mimics insulin.

Nettle has also been a go-to in folk remedies for easing seasonal allergies and mild respiratory conditions. Its ability to reduce histamines produced by the body in response to allergens is believed to be behind its reported success.

Nettles can also be used in a variety of recipes, such as polenta, pesto, and purée. Nettle tea and nettle soup are common uses of the plant, particularly in Northern and Eastern Europe.
