Product description
Sweetened papaya is a dried and candied form of the papaya fruit, native to Central America and parts of South America. It has a chewy texture and a sweet, tropical aroma and flavour. Sweetened papaya is commonly used as a snack or ingredient in desserts and baked goods.
Papaya contains vitamin C, folate, vitamin A, magnesium and antioxidants and is high in fibre and water content. Papaya also contains latex which can cause issues if consumed unripe.
Uses:
Papaya is eaten raw and cooked in Southeast Asia cuisine and added to many dishes.
Papaya has been used in traditional herbal remedies for its believed digestive and anti-inflammatory properties. It has been traditionally used to treat constipation and heart disease. It is also thought to benefit eye, bone and hair health. However, excessive consumption of sweetened papaya may cause digestive issues or interact with certain medications due to its high sugar content. Moderation is advised, especially for those with diabetes or gastrointestinal conditions.
Natural products can cause side effects. As with any herbal supplement, it is advisable to consult with a healthcare professional before incorporating into one’s routine, especially for individuals who are pregnant, nursing, or have pre-existing medical conditions.
