    Rhubarb root powder, derived from the dried and ground roots of the rhubarb plant, has a long history of use in traditional herbal remedies, particularly in Chinese and Tibetan practices. It is thought to have potent health benefits, especially in digestive health, liver function, and inflammation reduction. Rhubarb is said to contain compounds such as emodin and rhein, which could act as natural laxatives, promoting bowel movements by stimulating the intestines. It is also thought to contain antibacterial and antimicrobial compounds, these compounds exhibit properties that help combat bacteria and viruses. The plant contains tannins which could help tighten tissues and reduce bleeding, beneficial for conditions like diarrhoea and haemorrhoids.

    Rhubarb, part of the Polygonaceae family, contains anthraquinone derivatives, tannins, procyanidins and stilbene derivatives.

    How is it used?

    Rhubarb root powder is a versatile herbal remedy that can be used in various forms, including capsules, teas, topical applications, and as an addition to food and drinks.

    In large doses it has been used as a laxative. Traditionally in Chinese remedies it has been used for jaundice and digestive issues.
