    Withania Root Powder

    Withania somnifera

    Form: Powder

    Product description

Withania root, commonly known as Ashwagandha, Indian ginseng, or winter cherry is a small shrub with yellow flowers, native to India, North Africa, and the Middle East. The root of the plant is highly valued in traditional herbal remedies, particularly in Ayurveda, for its wide range of reported health benefits. The leaves are green, elliptic, and covered in a fine layer of silver-grey hair. The flowers are small, green, and bell-shaped. The roots are long and tuberous, with a thick, woody appearance. They are typically yellowish-brown and have a slightly bitter taste and a distinct, earthy aroma.

Withania Root contains withanolides, a group of triterpenes and lactones. We are able to supply this product in heat treated form.

    How is it used?

Ashwagandha root has been used for over 3,000 years in Ayurvedic remedies to alleviate various conditions and improve overall health. Ashwagandha root is a versatile and powerful adaptogen with numerous believed health benefits, including stress reduction, improved sleep, enhanced cognitive function, and increased physical performance. It has historically been used as a tonic to treat emaciation and as an aphrodisiac.
