Product description
Chinese Wormwood, also known as Sweet Wormwood, is a perennial plant with a long history of use in traditional Chinese herbal remedies. Wormwood is a silvery-green plant with finely divided leaves and small, yellowish flowers. The leaves are aromatic, contributing to its characteristic scent. It grows in temperate regions and is native to Europe and Asia. Chinese Wormwood is known for its bitter properties, which are thought to stimulate appetite and digestion.
Chinese Wormwood contains sesquiterpenes, volatile oils, flavonoids, coumarins and sterols.
How is it used?
Historically it has been used to treat fevers, chills, liver and gall-bladder disorders. Historically, it has been thought to be effective against a variety of parasites including treatment for malaria.
Wormwood is commonly consumed as a tea. The dried and cut herb is steeped in hot water for several minutes before drinking. Concentrated forms of Wormwood are available as tinctures and extracts, which can be added to water or juice.
